Joseph Walter "Joe" Tabootie is Rudy's father. He owns a butcher shop in Rudy's hometown, Plainville. He is voiced by Jess Harnell.[2][3]

Personality[]

Joe Tabootie is an optimistic, energetic, pleasant, loving husband and also a good father. With that being explained, he has bizarre ideas for his meat business, such as cheeseburger smoothies.

Physical Description[]

Joe has blue-green dot eyes and red hair, with thick eyebrows and a bushy mustache and also has a bald spot. He is taller and thinner in comparison to his wife, Millie. Joe wears business casual work clothes: a black tie with a white dress shirt with khaki trousers, in addition to large yellow boots to work. As a kid, he had a crew-cut hairstyle with a striped t-shirt, also wearing shorts and shoes.

History[]

Joe as a little boy

Joe when he was in fifth grade when he was Rudy's age.

Joe has lived in Plainville since childhood and attended Clunkwright School with his wife, Millie Tabootie.[4]

Relationships[]

Rudy

Rudy is Joe's only child. Joe has a good relationship with his son, and they seem to enjoy one another's company. Rudy frequently offers support to his father's endeavors. Some examples of this include Rudy risking the safety ChalkZone in order to win Joe's approval in "Waste Mountain" and going out of his way to prevent Joe's dreams from being crushed in "The Heist." However, he feels his son Rudy spends too much time drawing,[5] and is occasionally dismissive of Rudy's passion as an artist.[6]

Millie Tabootie

Millie is Joe's wife. The two are deeply in love and have a good relationship. Joe has been in love with Millie since elementary school, when he first saw her win the spelling bee and thought she was "the prettiest girl he'd ever seen."[4] In high school, they went to a Hawaiian-themed prom together, and they dreamed of going on a Hawaiian vacation together, sharing a special connection to the musical number "Honolulu Lulu."

Trivia[]

  • Joe is loosely based on co-creator Larry Huber's father, who himself was a butcher.[7]
  • Joe is very similar to Ned Flanders from The Simpsons as they both have bushy mustaches, both are taller and thinner and both have a good relationship with their kids (Rudy and Rodd and Todd). Also, when Joe speaks, his voice resembles Ned Flanders, but in a high-distorted pitch.
